Marching to Gilbert 3/06

With one shameful exception, this Presbytery Meeting seemed to proceed decently and in order, without undue emotional outbreaks on the floor or unanticipated orders of business.
The one disturbance occured during the sermon on Friday evening -- COULD that have been the chair of our Women's Ministries Committee snickering like a 12-yr-old while the Director of Clergy Spouse Ministries was struggling not to snort out her nose?
How embarrassing. How very un-Presbyterian. Let's blame it on the dog.
How typical.
Fortunately, all the Presbyterians caught in photography were behaving with appropriate decorum. Especially our esteemed Sidekicks, Reverend Pastors, and persons showing off photos of grandchildren.

Our guest was the Rev. Dr. Marion McClure, Directory of Worldwide Ministries for the PCUSA. She proved herself fully capable of facing the tough issues, especially on Saturday morning when the floor was opened for questions. As usual, our Presbytery managed to pose some really tough questions, ranging from the PCUSA response to genocide in Darfur to the status of Native American Ministries on the AZ reservations.
By way of Presbytery business (when I was not elsewhere, physically or mentally), we commissioned our commissioners to this year's General Assembly, which will be June 15-22 in Birmingham, Alabama. We also accepted Kristen and Brandon Willett under care as candidates for ministry. (top photo) They are middlers at Princeton, with Federated of Flagstaff as their home church.
